Field Expedition on the Upper Buzău Valley

Field Expedition on the Upper Buzău Valley

Two important areas were targeted, namely Valea Lupului - Pătârlagele, located on the middle course of Buzău, and Valea Cătinei - Rotarea, at the confluence of the rivers Bâsca Chiojdului and Stâmnic.

The aim of the research was to verify the older and newer information on the late Iron Age remains of these areas and to obtain new information for these sites.

The field surveys were coordinated by Valeriu Sîrbu and Sebastian Matei.

Trial trenches were excavated on Chichilău summit and Piatra Rotării - near the confluence of Stâmnic with Bâsca Chiojdului - both sites related with the transit along Buzau Valley and Tatar's Road
