LiDAR data has been recorded in new flights, during 2019, for the area of the Late Iron Age fortified site of Covasna Cetatea Zânelor - The Fairies Fortress. The analyses are in course.
Two fortified sites were known in the vicinity of Teliu (Kreuzburg/Nyén/Keresztvár), Brașov county, since the 19th c. They were reported as located in close proximity one to another (200 m), at the foothills of Buzău Mountains now covered in evergreen forests.
Two important areas were targeted, namely Valea Lupului - Pătârlagele, located on the middle course of Buzău, and Valea Cătinei - Rotarea, at the confluence of the rivers Bâsca Chiojdului and Stâmnic.
The research was conducted in August 2019 in the mountainous area adjacent to the localities of Rotbav and Feldioara, Crizbav and Rupea, in Brașov County, and had as main objective the verification of archaeological and historical archival information and their correlation with remote sensing data.
