LiDAR data has been recorded in new flights, during 2019, for the area of the Late Iron Age fortified site of Covasna Cetatea Zânelor - The Fairies Fortress. The analyses are in course.
Preliminary reports are already awaiting publication. Cetatea Zânelor is, for the moment, the most important and developed known power center of Pre-Roman Dacia in the inner arch of the Carpathian Mountains. The site has been researched in the past 20 years by Viorica Crișan and Valeriu Sîrbu. LiDAR data analyses for this site are conducted by Dan Ștefan (MNCR). Excavations in the fortress are currently led by Paul Pupeză (National Museum of Transylvania, Cluj Napoca). Landscape analyses and surveys in the territory are coordinated in HiLands Project by Magdalena Ștefan and Dan Buzea (MNCR)
